Margret Haselmann hat vor 4,5 Monaten ihren eigenen Online Concept Store in Österreich gegründet. Unter dem Namen Häsel und Gretel verkauft sie tolle Marken in puncto Kinderkleidung und Spielzeug für Kinder von 0-6. Zudem ist sie Mama von zwei süßen Mädchen! Liebe Margret, ist Hänsel und Gretel Euer Lieblingsmärchen?
Hahaha nein, mit dem Märchen hat der Name eigentlich wenig bis gar nichts zu tun – Häsel und Gretel sind die Spitznamen von meinem Mann und mir. Er setzt sich aus unserem mittlerweile gemeinsamen Nachnamen und meinem Vornamen zusammen. Es ist ein netter Wortwitz und ich finde es sehr passend für einen Kindershop.

Dear Margret, is Hansel and Gretel your favorite fable?
Hahaha, no, the shop name has nothing to do with the fairytale. Häsel and Gretel are the nicknames of my husband and me. It’s composed of our both last names and my first name. It’s a funny linguistic joke in my eyes and fits well to a kidsshop.
Bitte stell Dich kurz vor. Woher kommst Du, du hast Kinder? Hast Du neben dem Onlineshop noch eine Arbeit?
Ich komme aus Baden in der Nähe von Wien. Nach 10 Jahren Hauptstadt wollte ich unbedingt wieder zurück in meine Heimatstadt. Ich bin Mama von zwei Töchtern, 3 und 1,5 Jahre, die keinen Stein auf dem anderen gelassen haben in unserem Leben und das finde ich toll. Sie haben uns eine komplett neue Welt eröffnet und ich genieße diese in vollen Zügen.
Schon während meines Kommunikationswissenschafts Studiums habe ich in einer PR-Agentur gearbeitet. Seit der Geburt unserer ersten Tochter bin ich zuhause. Nachdem ich zwei Jahre voll der Familie gewidmet habe, wusste ich, es war Zeit für eine Veränderung. Nach langer Überlegung was mich noch glücklich machen würde, kam die Idee zu einem Online Concept Store. Häsel und Gretel ist jetzt meine Arbeit oder wie ich es gerne nenne: Mein Urlaub. Er lässt sich perfekt mit der Familie vereinbaren und wir wissen alle, wie viel das Wert ist. Wenn die Kinder im Kindergarten bzw. bei der Tagesmutter sind oder schlafen arbeite ich. Ansonsten wird gespielt, gebastelt, gemalt oder wir gehen an die frische Luft.
Please introduce yourself a little. Where are you from, you have children? Do you have another job you are working in?
I’m born and living in Baden near to Vienna. For 10 years I lived in the capital Vienna as well but it took me back. I’m mom of my two daughters, aged 3 and 1,5. They opened us a completely new world that we are living in and I’m enjoying it every second.
During my study in communications I worked in a pr agency. Since the birth of our first daughter I stayed home. After two years I felt the start of something new. After some thoughts about what could make me happy I had the idea of my own online concept store. Häsel und Gretel is now my work or as I call it: My vacancy. My family and the shop can be great arranged and we all know how important this is. When the kids are in kindergarten or with the nanny or sleep I have got time to work. Otherwise we play, we tinker, paint or go out!
Was genau ist Häsel und Gretel?
Häsel und Gretel ist ein Online Concept Store, der eine erlesene Auswahl an Kinderkleidung und Accessoires anbietet. Komfort und Design sind mir wichtig. Man findet sowohl Minimalistisches als auch Ausgefallenes. Weiche Stoffe, angenehme Schnitte und Bio-Baumwolle sind wichtige Kriterien, bei der Auswahl unserer Kollektion. Unser Motto: „ Wir möchten style affinen Eltern das Shoppen für ihre Kleinsten erleichtern.“
What exactly is Häsel und Gretel?
Häsel und Gretel is an online concept store which offers a selected choice of kids wear and accessories. Comfort and design are very important to me. You will find both minimalistic and fancy styles. Soft garments, comfortable cuts and organic cotton belong to my criteria when I make my choice of selections. Our slogan is: „We want to facilitate shopping for style affin parents.“
Machst Du alles allein für den Shop oder hast Du Unterstützung?
Ich bin Gründerin, Geschäftsleitung, Praktikantin, Kaffeeköchin, Ein- und Auspackerin, Putzfrau und Mädchen für alles! Das finde ich super, denn ich kann alles genau so machen wie ich es möchte und es gibt nichts Schöneres. Wenn ich einmal eine Meinung brauche, weil ich mir bei einer Entscheidung unsicher bin, dann frage ich enge Vertraute. Eine sehr große Unterstützung ist mein Mann. Er ist nicht nur König der Zahlen, sondern auch eine Stütze wenn es mal nicht so geht wie ich das möchte.
Are you working alone for the shop or do you have help?
I’m founder, company manager, trainee, coffee maker, packer, cleaner and maid-of-all-work together. I love that! I can do everything as I want, there is nothing nicer. In case I need an opinion I ask familiar friends. A very big supporter is my husband. He is not only the king of numbers but also my big rock when something doesn’t work out as I want.
Tinycottons wird es in der kommenden SS16 Kollektion bei Dir geben – eines meiner Favoriten! Und Deine Lieblingsmarke?
Ja, Tinycottons zählt definitiv auch zu meinen Favoriten. Sie produzieren mit sehr angenehmen Stoffen und die Qualität ist unglaublich gut. Aber es ist schwierig eine Lieblingsmarke zu nennen. Ich finde z.B. die Dino Hoodies von Kukukid (ab Mitte Februar erhältlich) ganz toll. Mich sprechen die Drucke von Pocopato, das Bequeme im super Design von Noé&Zoe, das Graphische von Pom Berlin, die Schnitte und das Design von Gardner and the Gang, das Bunte von Little Man Happy, die Kniestrümpfe und natürlich der Hasenhut von Mini Dressing, die bequemen Hosen von Little Indians und die gedeckten Farben von Moà sehr an und so kann ich zu jeder Marke etwas sagen.
Tinycottons is one of the brands you will launch for SS16- it is one of my favorites! What about your favorite label?
Oh yes, Tinycottons belongs even to my favorites. They use very comfortable garments and the quality is incredibly good. It’s not easy to name only one favorite brand. Within others I love the dinosaur hoodies by Kukukid (available from the middle of February) . At the same time I like the prints of Pocopato, the amazing designs by Noé&Zoe, the graphics by Pom Berlin and the cuts and look of Gardner and the Gang. The colors of Little Man Happy, the high knee socks and rabbit hat by Mini Dressing, the comfy pants by Little Indians and the muted colors of Moì. I can tell you something that I like on every brand!

Social Media – Instagram und Facebook, oder auch Flyer – wie bzw. wo funktioniert Werbung für Dich am besten?
Ich denke, dass Instagram eine sehr wichtige Funktion beim Aufbau einer Marke hat ebenso wie Facebook. Flyer, muss ich ehrlich gestehen, habe ich noch nicht probiert, wird es aber bestimmt bei den PopUp Shops geben an denen Häsel und Gretel vertreten ist. Weiters denke ich, dass die Zusammenarbeit mit Bloggern sehr wichtig ist. Viele holen sich ihre Inspirationen bei BloggerInnen, ich übrigens auch, und somit haben auch sie eine wichtige Funktion.

Social Media – Instagram and Facebook or flyer – how works good advertising for you?
I think that Instagram und Facebook both help New Startups very much. For now I didn’t work with flyer but I’m working on them for the upcoming PopUpShops where I will participate. Many shop owners get their inspiration on blogger website’s. Also for me they are very important und helpful!
